City of Clever Hires New Police Chief

The City of Clever is pleased to announce that Mr. Darren Whisnant will be the new Chief of Police. The city had 18 applicants for the vacant position, most of them with outstanding resumes in law enforcement. the City Council reviewed all applicants, narrowing the search to three finalists. 

Following an extensive personal interview process with the finalists, Mr. Whisnant's impeccable resume and vast work experience proved to be a decisive factor in the City Council's choice as the new Chief. Darren has many years of supervisory experience and a wide array of Law Enforcement training that will ultimately be invaluable to the department.

Darren comes to Clever with over 30 years of police experience. He was most recently employed by the Nixa Police Department, where he received 2 Life Saving's Awards, Officer of the Year, as well as a Peer Award. Previously Darren retired from the Springfield Police Department as a Sergeant after a career that spanned parts of four decades. During that time, he was recognized for his outstanding work with many awards, commendations, and recommendations. 

An official swearing in ceremony will take place on Tuesday January 23 at 6:30PM during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.
